easy wood projects

By Natasha Courtney

Hi, my name is Natasha and I am one of the six full time students on the 2012 cabinet makers’ course at CFW, Nelson.   Between the six of us we will be writing the student blog for the rest of the year.
Seven weeks in, the course is off to a good start with three projects and a couple of mini projects already under our belts.  We had the added bonus early on in the year of a weekend marquetry workshop with Silas Kopf who demonstrated the double bevel sawing technique.     Here are a few photos showing our recent activity.

The first small project was a pair of winding sticks, followed by a bench stool

Then a tool shelf made from Ash - this was part of the dovetail module, using machine cut sliding dovetails

Followed by a tool chest using hand cut dovetails

Ben, Reece and Daniel dry fitting Bens tool chest before glue up

Reece cleaning up the squeeze out

Plane making

My favourite : Robs plane for the finer guitar work

A snippet of Jeffs glue up
